Neighbourhood connection programmes

When Lady Anne Turner founded the Turner Home in 1883, she made sure that men who were often shut out had a place to belong. Anne’s Army carries that purpose beyond our walls. It’s our programme of community activities that brings together the men we support and people from the wider Dingle community, helping everyone look after their mental health and wellbeing. Through gardening with Growing Sudley, music and reminiscence sessions, heritage activities andopen events in our grounds, people can connect, learn something new and feel part of something.

At its heart, Anne’s Army is about prevention. Staying active, connected and engaged helps stop conditions from worsening and keeps needs from growing, both for our residents and for people in our community. Our residents gain new friendships and a stronger link to the neighbourhood around them, and local people get a welcoming space to keep active, connect and stay well.
